Meridian in Repose

Domesticity tolls a death knell
on the bop prosody of the soul,
leads to New Year’s Eve train rides
laden with coffee & disdain—
a moral lanolin pedestal
perfect for deluges of inanity.

...naivety and insecurity wreath the boxcar miasmic
in the beatific beauty of youth;
all chronic comedy
and hyperbole birthed tangible.

Yet this codex of superiority
is a pockmarked ledger of jaded memory—
for the potency of verbosity exists
in the simulacra of decadence pasts:
of late-night lavatory concupiscence
and the hovel kingdoms of
broken-faith skulduggery.

Acerbic is the elegiac allure of adolescence
—drowned in chemicals & chemistry—
the carcinogenic thrumming of myelin sheaths
soused in the putrescence of wasteland days.

A light flickers in darkling distance;
a thrush song of Dover Beaches,
infinite in their immolation….
