Plump Devils

Always knew that lips were trouble,
two succulent scythes of death.

Inevitably drawn by magnet pulls,
then smothered in sweet insidiousness.

Maternal skirt-warnings rang in ears,
finally making sense to child minds.

Eventually we’re all swallowed whole,
though a more willing sacrifice you’d never find.
